The Iowa Hawkeyes have found a new director of scouting. They've hired Todd McShane for the role, according to Chris Hummer of 247Sports.
McShane was previously the director of player personnel for the Oregon State Beavers from 2023-26. He is a 2011 Oregon State graduate with a degree in health management and policy and a minor in athletic administration.
The Cornwallis, Oregon native oversaw the Beavers during the Pac-12's massive exodus in 2024. Oregon State stayed in the Pac-12 and played an independent schedule, but they went 5-7 in 2024 and 2-10 in 2025. Overall, the Beavers went 15-22 in McShane's tenure.
Before his time with the Beavers, McShane worked on the recruiting staff for the Northwestern Wildcats for six seasons. He was promoted
all the way to the director of recruiting/offense before his departure. He also served on Nebraska's staff from 2015-18, starting as the assistant director of recruiting and ending as the associate director of player personnel.
Prior to his time at Nebraska, McShane served as assistant director of player personnel at Oregon State, advancing from student equipment manager to an administrative intern role in 2011. Still, his experience in the Midwest, with Nebraska and Northwestern, will serve him well at Iowa.
