College football's opening weekend continues with a handful of Sunday matchups, including a rare early season edition of the Apple Cup between Washington and Washington State.
This game used to be on Thanksgiving weekend, but since the Huskies moved to the Pac-12, it's become a September affair. The Huskies enter the year with CFP hopes, while the Cougars are hitting the reset button yet again with former Missouri offensive coordinator Kirby Moore as head coach after Jimmy Rogers left for Iowa State just one season into his tenure.

The Huskies are certainly intriguing with
Demond Williams Jr. back despite his flirtation with the portal, and they also added a pair of productive transfers in Oregon running back Jayden Limar and receiver Christian Moss from Kennesaw State.
The defense also returns some productive players in EDGE Jacob Lane and linebacker Jacob Manu, who is back from injury, as well as safety Alex McLaughlin. It also added Virginia cornerback transfer Emmanuel Karnley, who had eight pass breakups last year.
Wazzu, meanwhile, is a mostly transfer-based operation after the coaching change. That includes the quarterback spot, which brings in an FCS transfer in UC Davis quarterback Caden Pinnick, as well as a Power Four receiver transfer in Tank Hawkins. Productive running back Kirby Vorhees returns, as well. Defensively, though, it's almost all transfer players.
It's hard to know what to expect from Washington State this year, but it could be due for a step back. Washington should roll at home here.
