While this game might go largely overlooked during the college football slate this week and weekend, this contest is pretty important for both schools. The Green Wave and 49ers each have a chance to right the ship and pull up to .500 in this tilt, and a loss could put them in 1-3 hole that may be difficult to dig out of.
Charlotte had lost every game they played heading into the last contest, but they found a way to defeat Temple 38-31 to get their first victory of the year. On the other side, Tulane has been inconsistent and erratic, as they've alternates losses and wins every week of the year. Their loss last week might mean a win is in the cards in Week 9.

The 49ers are going to have to overcome a lot if they want to win this game, even though they are at home. Quarterback Cole Gonzales has an American Conference-leading seven interceptions, and Conner Harrell's touchdown-to-interception ratio isn't much better.
While both schools are two out of the three worst rushing programs in the conference, Charlotte has also conceded the most rushing yards in the American, which at least gives Tulane some hope they can run the ball with modest success.
Johnnie Daniels is going to be the Green Wave running back that takes advantage of Charlotte, if any backfield player for Tulane is going to step up. This game feels a bit like a stay-away, but the Green Wave should be able to take care of business.
