Brian Newberry and the Midshipmen have established themselves as one of the top teams in the American Conference in the last couple of years, so they had to be disappointed when Florida Atlantic beat them 38-30 last week.

Part of the reason why Navy may have gone down was because of a mid-game injuryto quarterback Braxton Woodson, who left the game with an ankle sprain. His availability and effectiveness tonight is going to be something to monitor, but Woodson has had the benefit of two weeks of rest to prepare for this contest.

UAB hasn't exactly had the smoothest start

to the season either. Their one win against Louisiana-Monroe was sandwiched in between two losses to Illinois and Louisiana. The Blazers found themselves down 21-7 at the half to the Ragin' Cajuns and couldn't find enough offense to force overtime.

This is a tough game to handicap considering Woodson's injury, how Navy played without him against Florida Atlantic, and the extra time Navy has to prepare. The Midshipmen did beat UAB 38-24 in their last meeting early in the 2025 campaign, but both teams don't figure to have that same level of offense humming at this point of the 2026 campaign.

It's tempting to take UAB and the points here given the situation, even though Navy might turn on the afterburner at some point given they have an established recent track record of success.

Prediction: UAB 23, Navy 20
