The noon slate on Saturday in Week 7 features a ranked showdown between SEC squads licking their wounds after tough losses.
The LSU Tigers (4-2, 1-2 SEC) took their second loss under first-year coach Lane Kiffin last week, falling on a two-point conversion in overtime on the road against Kentucky. They'll look to get back on track with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1 SEC) coming to town.
The Bulldogs had a bye week to reflect on their frustrating home loss to Alabama, and they have another shot at an upset win at Tiger Stadium on Saturday.

LSU vs. Mississippi State prediction, pick:
LSU's offense still
just doesn't quite look like a Lane Kiffin-coached outfit. Quarterback Sam Leavitt has been a bit too boom-or-bust to achieve consistent success, and he has as many interceptions as touchdowns against FBS competition. He's been a factor with his legs, but the rest of the run game — led by Dilin Jones — has been fairly inconsistent.
The Tigers' defense has been mostly fantastic, though, and that makes Kamario Taylor's status the biggest question in this game. He remains questionable for Saturday's game after he was injured against Alabama, and it's hard to imagine the Bulldogs have much of a shot if Parker Puckett gets the start, even with a strong run game led by Fluff Bothwell.
The line here may be assuming Taylor doesn't play, but even if he does, I think Mississippi State's defense could give up a big day here. My gut tells me this is too many points, so I'll take the Bulldogs to cover, but disregard if you're reading this and Taylor has been ruled out.
