The time has come after weeks, months, and years of speculation. The Florida State Seminoles have officially parted ways with head coach Mike Norvell.
After seven years in Tallahassee, it was announced on Sunday morning that Norvell would be let go from his position, replaced by Rick Stockstill as the interim head coach going forward. In his time with the Seminoles, Norvell went 41-39 with a 1-1 bowl record, including a loss in the Orange Bowl in 2023.
In that 2023 season, Norvell's team went a perfect 13-0, but was left out of the College Football Playoff due to a season-ending injury to quarterback Jordan Travis at the end of the year. Since then, things have gone downhill, with Florida State going 2-10 in 2024, 5-7 in 2025, and now 3-5 in 2026.
This decision comes after the Seminoles lost their third straight game on Saturday night, this time to the Clemson Tigers at home.
"We understand the deep passion of Seminole fans and share their high expectations for this program," said President Richard McCullough.
Mike Norvell will be owed $50.3 million, which is subject to offset and mitigation.
