It might be hard for some fans to believe, but Army head coach Jeff Monken is entering his 13th campaign at West Point. He's coached the Black Knights to an 89-63 record in that span and is hoping to get Army back to its 2024 form, when they went 12-2.
Their Week 1 opponent will be Bryant, an FCS squad that won their first game of the season last weekend against Stonehill. The Bulldogs beat the Skyhawks 24-6 behind an impressive performance from running back OJ Ross, who posted 102 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Army's opponents aren't going to be surprised about
what the Black Knights bring to the table on offense. Quarterback Cale Hellums is going to run and run often, and mix a passing play in here or there. He ran for 1,223 yards and 18 touchdowns a season ago, and threw just 87 passes in 13 games last season.
The question becomes, will Bryant be able to stop a ground attack that won't deviate from script for four quarters? The Bulldogs conceded over 100 yards on the ground to a Stonehill team that is much less potent than Army, so it stands to reason that the Black Knights should be able to double up on that total, at least.
Additionally, Bryant was only up 7-3 on Stonehill heading into the fourth quarter last week, which should give Army a chance to run and hide in this one.
