Oregon is expected to compete for a national title this fall and ranks No. 2 in the preseason USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, but it suffered a major loss on offense early in fall camp.
Running back Jordon Davison, who finished second on the team with 667 rushing yards as a true freshman in 2025 and led the team with 15 touchdowns, suffered an injury in fall camp that will keep him out for an extended period. Ducks Wire's Zachary Neel was the first to report the news.
The injury is reportedly going to hold Davison out for the remainder of fall camp and part of the regular season, with a six- to eight-week recovery timeline. The specifics of Davison's injury are unclear, though he did suffer a season-ending broken collarbone in Oregon's College
Football Playoff quarterfinal win over Texas Tech.
Last year's leading rusher, Noah Whittington, moved on to the NFL this offseason, but the Ducks do have a stable of running backs that will help them manage Davison's absence. They return Dierre Hill Jr., who had nearly 700 yards on the ground last season, as well as Da'Juan Riggs, who saw minimal action as a depth piece.
Those two players are joined by journeyman running back transfer Simeon Price, who has 100 career carries in five seasons of college football.
Davison's loss is a significant one for the preseason national title hopeful, and the Ducks will hope they have enough depth to manage without their top returning rusher for at least the first few weeks of the season.
