Though college football fans will have to wait until Saturday for the start of the FBS season, the Week 0 action begins a couple of days prior on Thursday night in the FCS.
We have a conference battle in the Ohio Valley to begin the season as the Charleston Southern Buccaneers head to St. Charles, Missouri, to take on the Lindenwood Lions. The Bucs hit the road to face an FBS opponent in Week 1 in Georgia Southern, while Lindenwood avoids an FBS foe until back-to-back games against Missouri State and Eastern Michigan next month.
These were middle-of-the-road OVC teams last year, with Lindenwood going 6-6 while CSU finished 5-7.

Lindenwood vs. Charleston Southern prediction, pick:
Charleston Southern took a major step forward last fall, going from one win to five, though they will likely lean heavily on the run game this year after losing quarterback Zolten Osborne to conference foe Tennessee Tech in the transfer portal.
Lindenwood, meanwhile, is expected to take a step forward and was picked to finish third in the OVC this season. It has a new starting quarterback in former backup Robert Battle, but it has a lot of experience elsewhere on the offense, particularly in the trenches. It also boasts a veteran front seven.
The Lions are expected to be the better team this fall. Playing at home is the cherry on top.
Prediction: Lindenwood 27, Charleston Southern 14
Best Bet: Lindenwood -10.5, Under 45.5
