The Clemson Tigers will be without starting quarterback Christopher Vizzina for their Week 3 showdown with the North Carolina Tar Heels, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. He suffered an elbow injury in their win over Georgia Southern and is now "week-to-week."
True freshman Tait Reynolds took over in Vizzina's absence, leading the Tigers to a 22-7 win over the Eagles and is expected to get the start. The two were in a battle to be the starter throughout the offseason, with Vizzina ultimately coming out on top. Despite him winning the battle, head coach Dabo Swinney played Reynold in both of Clemson's games to start the season before Vizzina went down.
Reynolds completed 16 of his 27 passes against Georgia Southern for 178 yards. He also carried
the ball 14 times for 38 yards. Through two games, he has completed 60.6% of his passes for 200 yards and ran for 29 yards on 19 attempts. He has not scored a touchdown or turned the ball over.
Clemson (1-1) will host North Carolina (2-0) in both teams' ACC openers on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET, and the game will be on ESPN.
