The annual rivalry showdown between Alabama and Tennessee will look a bit different for the next two years.
For the first time since 1970, both teams will wear their home uniforms — Alabama in crimson and Tennessee in orange — when they square off in both 2026 and 2027. The rivalry, known as the Third Saturday in October, has been played uninterrupted since 1928, aside from the 1943 season due to World War II.
The 2027 showdown will mark the first time the Vols have worn their home orange uniforms in Tuscaloosa, as Alabama played its home games in the series at Legion Field in Birmingham before 1999.

The rivalry series has been prone to streaks throughout its history, but Alabama asserted control of the series during Nick Saban's tenure, winning 15 straight against the Volunteers from 2007-21. However, the series has become more competitive since Josh Heupel arrived in Knoxville, and Tennessee has won two of the last four against the Crimson Tide.
Alabama leads the all-time series 60-40-7.
