Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Kamrio Taylor is having season-ending toe surgery, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. He was one of the top quarterbacks in the country before suffering the injury.
Taylor suffered the injury against the Missouri Tigers on Sept. 26, a game they won 31-24 to become 4-0. He attempted to play in next week's game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, but was forced to leave early and was ineffective in the loss.
They were on a bye the next week, and he missed their game on Oct. 17 against the LSU Tigers, another blowout loss. He attempted to play last week against the Oklahoma Sooners, but was once again unable to finish the game. The Bulldogs have lost all three games since his injury and are now 4-3 overall and 2-3
in SEC play.
According to Thamel, he is expected to make a full recovery and could have surgery as soon as Wednesday, as he prepares to return for the 2027 season. The sophomore is from Macon, Mississippi, and will enter next season as one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country and one of the top prospects in the 2028 NFL Draft.
Taylor finished the season completing 65.1% of his passes for 1,460 yards, 17 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He played in 11 games and made two starts as a freshman in 2025, completing 43 of his 77 passes for 629 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder has rushed for nine touchdowns in 17 career games.
