Utah Utes football fans of a certain age don't recall a time where Kyle Whittingham was not the head coach to start the season. Whittingham coached the Utes since 2005 but left at the end of last season to take the job at Michigan.
Enter Morgan Scalley, who led the team to a convincing bowl victory over Nebraska last year after Whittingham departed. Scalley is tasked with making sure No. 21 Utah beats teams that they should defeat, starting with Idaho out of the FCS.

Idaho vs. Utah prediction, pick:
While this is Utah's first game of the season, the Vandals already got loose in their first contest a week
ago against Cal Poly. Thomas Ford Jr.'s team lost a shootout to Cal Poly 38-34, but did well to put up 18 fourth quarter points in the narrow defeat.
Idaho quarterback Joshua Wood had an excellent day, throwing for 363 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Tony Harste was on the receiving end of both passing scores, and racked up 180 yards on the day.
While Idaho comes into this game with offensive momentum, their defense and execution is going to have to be much better to hang in with Utah. The Vandals committed eight penalties last week, and Utah quarterback Devon Dampier isn't going to need multiple chances to take advantage of a potentially already worn out Idaho defense.
Prediction: Utah 44, Idaho 23
Best Bet: Over 56.5
