The Midshipmen have had a strong stretch of play under head coach Brian Newberry, who is currently in his fourth season with the school. This season hasn't gotten off to the greatest start though, as Navy finds themselves under .500 and with significant questions moving forward.
Starting quarterback Braxton Woodson has been unavailable due to an ankle injury, and Newberry is going to have to weight getting his starter back in there to break a losing streak against rushing him back too quickly. Reserve quarterback Jackson Gutierrez rushed 34 times last week for 134 yards, but was only 4-13 through the air.

Navy vs. Air Force prediction, pick:
On the other side, Air Force has had their ups and downs under head coach Troy Calhoun, but the last couple of seasons haven't been successful. With that said, Air Force is coming off an impressive 36-33 road victory at Nevada last week in overtime.
Falcons quarterback Liam Szarka was busy on the ground, rushing 33 times for 171 yards and two touchdowns. He also added a passing touchdown.
Both of these teams are going to deploy ground-and-pound strategies that are going to keep possessions down, which makes the under a reasonable play. The Falcons might have a slight edge in momentum given their thrilling victory last week, and given Navy's shaky current situation under center.
Prediction: Air Force 23, Navy 20
Best Bet: Under 45.5
