The New York Jets are a rebuilding team, but the supporting cast on offense is shaping up very nicely. Superstar wide receiver Garrett Wilson is back healthy and motivated, and should have support from Adonai Mitchell and rookie Omar Cooper Jr. Breece Hall is back at running back to be a workhorse.
The Jets' offensive line is shaping up nicely, with talents like Armand Membou, Joe Tippmann, and Olu Fashanu expected to play high-level ball in 2026. Even the tight end room has options, with rookie Kenyon Sadiq and sophomore Mason Taylor. Starting quarterback Geno Smith has plenty at his disposal to enjoy a quality season.
The goal for Smith should be to play mistake-free football in 2026. If Smith can execute Frank Reich's offense efficiently, the
Jets could be pretty effective on offense. The gunslinging quarterback will have to avoid unnecessary turnovers.
Smith has occasionally struggled with protecting the football throughout his uneven career. The former West Virginia standout has thrown 89 career interceptions and he's fumbled 48 times. Smith has endured four seasons with 8+ fumbles, including his first two with the Jets, and had a career-worst nine fumbles in 2024.
Smith led the NFL in interceptions last season with 17 despite missing two games. In the previous 2024 season, his 15 interceptions were third-most in the league. If Smith learns to take advantage of his surroundings and protect the football, the Jets could have a good offense.
But it will be a challenge for a quarterback who has committed too many turnovers in recent seasons.
