The New York Jets entered the new season needing star wide receiver Garrett Wilson to bounce back after enduring an injury-riddled season in 2025. Through three weeks, that's precisely been the case. Wilson has been excellent while showcasing instant chemistry with QB Geno Smith.
Pro Football Focus grades every receiver on short, intermediate, and deep routes. Heading into Week 4, Wilson is PFF's highest-graded wideout on deep balls. Wilson has a near-perfect score of 98.2 when targeted deep.
Wilson has registered 21 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns. The former Ohio State standout had his biggest game in Week 3. He torched the Detroit Lions for 10 catches on 13 targets for 107 yards and a TD.
According to PFF, Wilson has caught all three
of his deep targets (20+ yards) for 77 receiving yards and a touchdown. The former 10th overall selection has an average depth of target of 25.7 in deep-ball attempts. Smith has a perfect passer rating of 158.3 when targeting Wilson deep.
Wilson has been everything and more for Frank Reich's offense. The Jets are playing competitive football, having lost one-score games in Weeks 2 and 3. Targeting Wilson on deep shots has increased their chances.
