New York Jets veteran quarterback Geno Smith enjoyed another strong performance at Monday's training camp practice.
Smith was especially excellent in a move-the-ball period to conclude practice, going 5-for-5 to end a two-minute drill with an 18-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., according to various reporters in attendance. We're starting to wonder if Smith could light up the Tennessee Titans' secondary in Week 1.
Smith was excellent in his preseason debut, completing all seven passes he attempted for 65 yards and a 13-yard touchdown to Jelani Woods. Smith showed terrific command of the offense. He's really starting to build momentum towards Week 1.
Meanwhile the Titans' secondary has been concerning. They've started
both preseason games against backup quarterbacks. Kurtis Rourke and Drew Lock started those games, combining to go 24-of-28 for 204 yards and a touchdown against the Titans' starters. Lock threw a 36-yard touchdown on a coverage breakdown.
The Titans are operating with a concerning sense of urgency in the secondary. Meanwhile Smith and the Jets' passing offense appears to be trending in the appropriate direction. Preseason football is often a liar. In this case, the Jets are hoping the Titans' struggles carry over to Week 1.

5/5 with a stellar touchdown pass to Omar Cooper at the end. Mixed in some quality throws to Mason Taylor and Garrett Wilson.
