The New York Jets have spent the past two offseasons bringing familiar faces back to Florham Park. First, it was Aaron Glenn, who returned to coach the franchise he once played eight seasons for. This offseason, veteran linebacker Demario Davis and quarterback Geno Smith followed suit, giving Gang Green experienced leaders on both sides of the ball.

Those reunions have only reinforced what Glenn has built. Speaking after the first practice of training camp, Davis described a head coach who has earned the respect of everyone in the locker room.

"I would follow him into battle anytime… There are 90 men in that locker room that would run through a wall for him," Davis said.

That's about as strong an endorsement as a head coach can receive from a veteran

who has played for multiple organizations and several head coaches over a lengthy NFL career. Davis has seen at all. So has quarterback Geno Smith. He shared a similar perspective, praising Glenn for the culture he's established and the direction the organization continues to move under his leadership.

Respect is never guaranteed in an NFL locker room, especially one filled with accomplished veterans. It has to be earned through consistency, communication and accountability.

Based on the words of Davis and Smith, Glenn has accomplished exactly that. The Jets have no shortage of leaders, but they also appear to have a head coach those leaders genuinely believe in—a foundation the organization hopes translates into another successful season.
