The New York Jets (1-0) came into the 2026 NFL season with the hope that adding veterans like quarterback Geno Smith would help the team go down the road of being respectable. New York's first test of the regular season came on Sunday as the Jets visited quarterback Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans (0-1) and they were able to come out on top.
The Jets beat the Titans 23-10 on Sunday thanks to the offensive and defensive sides of the football working together in a way that fans did not see much of last season. Smith finished the game having completed 19 of his 24 passes for 215 yards while running back Breece Hall had a great start to the campaign with 22 carries with 102 yards and one touchdown.
On the other side, Ward struggled to get anything
going thanks to New York's defense as he completed 19 of his 32 passes for just 140 yards and one touchdown that was scored in the fourth quarter. Both the Jets and Titans are rebuilding teams, but New York was able to emerge victorious.
With that, here is Jets Wire's stock report for the Jets following Sunday's win over Tennessee:
Stock Up: RB Breece Hall
Even with the addition of Smith this offseason, Hall was going to be the player that the offense would need to set the tone if the Jets are going to a competent offense in most games. Not only did Hall run all over the Titans in this one, but he also caught both of his targets for 16 yards, once again showing his impact on the game in more ways than just running the football.
Stock Down: TE Mason Taylor
In a game where Smith completed a pass to eight different receivers over the course of this game, Taylor was the only one to not record positive yardage, showing how much he struggled to make an impact. With fellow tight end Kenyon Sadiq putting his athleticism on display in multiple ways, Taylor not being able to get anything going in this dominant win is nothing short of disappointing.
Stock Up: LB David Bailey
From the beginning of this contest, Bailey was making his presence along Tennessee's offensive line and in the backfield with the way that he was able to overpower whoever was blocking him in single coverage. Bailey, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, had plenty of draft capital invested in him and his debut should make every fan feel positive about what's to come for the rest of this season.
Stock Down: DE Will McDonald IV
This entry is more to indicate that more should be expected out of someone like McDonald given the kind of havoc he can cause on any given Sunday thanks to his speed and athleticism. McDonald did get all the way to Ward and was able to bring him down to the ground for a sack, but outside of that, McDonald was unable to keep the pressure on like many expect from him in most games.
Stock Up: TE Kenyon Sadiq
As touched on earlier, Sadiq made the quite the debut for the 21-year-old as he finished this game fourth on the team in receiving yards (21) and scored a rushing touchdown. Smith will need all of his receivers to get as open as possible given the Jets' struggles passing the ball last season, but if he can build on what he did against the Titans on Sunday, he'll be putting up more prolific games before the campaign is over.
Stock Up: WR Garrett Wilson
From the onset of this game, it looked like Wilson and Smith had the kind of connection that should be able to carry the offense for the entire season, especially if the coverage isn't as tight. Wilson has long proven himself to be the best receiver that the Jets have had on the roster in quite some time, but if he can build on this performance, he should be on his way to having a career year.
