The New York Jets are a few practices into their 2026 training camp. The sessions have provided head coach Aaron Glenn with an opportunity to grow his new-look defense. Glenn took more control over the defense this offseason after appointing Brian Duker as the new defensive coordinator.
Speaking with reporters at the podium at Wednesday's practice, Coach Glenn expressed excitement over the new defense. Remember the Jets finished 31st in points allowed and made both schematic and personnel changes this offseason.
The Jets will look significantly different on defense in 2026.
"When there's an issue on defense, I can quickly fix it," Glenn said in response to a question about the new-look unit. "I know the defense like the back of my hand. And that
feels really, really good."
The Jets added veterans like safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, linebacker Demario Davis, defensive tackle David Onyemata, and EDGE Joseph Ossai to provide experience and leadership to the defense. They also traded for third-year nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat, and drafted defensive end David Bailey and cornerback D'Angelo Ponds.
The Jets should be borderline unrecognizable on defense in 2026 compared to 2025. That excites Coach Glenn, who appears significantly more confident and comfortable in this defense. Improvement is on the horizon.
