If iron sharpens iron, the New York Jets having a pair of top-10 draft picks doing battle against one another at 2026 NFL training camp is a great idea.
Both individuals think so.
Many eyes in New York during training camp are on David Bailey as the Jets selected the pass rusher second overall at the 2026 draft. With all the youthful talent injected into the roster throughout that same draft, alongside of his success as a rookie, it's easy to forget offensive lineman Armand Membou is still only a second-year pro. The Jets selected him No. 7 overall at the 2025 draft.
Throughout the early parts of training camp, Bailey and Membou have been going head-to-head against each other during team drills in the trenches. While they are battling each other now,
on game day both will be in green and white which helps them see the positive side of their training camp battles.
It has created a bunch of respect as well. Bailey has seen exactly how much of a step up the NFL is thanks to Membou.
"(Membou) strong. Extremely strong. Like, ridiculously strong," Bailey said. "He's been getting me better."
At the same time, Membou sounds like he thinks Bailey is ready for the pro game right away.
"He a great player, man," Membou said. "It's been a good matchup going against him."
