There's no doubt that New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is entering the 2026 season on the hot seat.
After going 3-14 in his debut campaign, there'd be little patience for another similar outcome. With that said, Glenn deserves more respect than the baseless, unfounded social media rumors connecting Mike Tomlin to the Jets allows.
Assuming Tomlin wants to resume coaching next season, he'll be among the hottest candidates on the market.
The former Super Bowl winner is taking a year off after coaching the Steelers for 19 seasons. If the Jets find themselves searching for a new head coach next offseason, Tomlin should definitely be on their shortlist.
Glenn deserves to coach the 2026 season as close to distraction-free as possible. The Jets' head
coach has done his best to reinvent himself this offseason. Glenn learned from his debut mistakes, and has surrounded himself with new staffing members. The decision to hire Frank Reich as offensive coordinator has been popular in the locker room.
Glenn's fate deserves to be judged and decided based on the results of the 2026 campaign. Discussing potential candidates like Tomlin in August is totally baseless and worthless. Give Glenn an opportunity to prove himself.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 NFL season.
