New York Jets rookie pass rusher David Bailey has been highlighted for his efforts by the NFL for the first time in his career.
The league has announced that Bailey has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against the Cleveland Browns:
The Jets (2-3) took a 17-12 win against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. That would not have happened with Bailey during a messy weather game at MetLife Stadium.
Bailey recorded 3.0 sacks, three tackles for loss, and four total QB hits in the contest.
Bailey is the first rookie since Jaelan Phillips with at 3.0 sacks and three TFLs in the same game.
The last Jets defensive rookie to win player of the week was Sauce Gardner in 2022.
