The New York Jets have a winnable game in Week 8 versus a Las Vegas Raiders team that has dropped four-consecutive contests.
Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins has been really good under center for a majority of the season. A Jets win means a stout defensive performance.
That's precisely why Jets Wire has identified three defenders who need strong performances against the Raiders in Week 8:
Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE
Jets edge rushers David Bailey and Joseph Ossai have missed multiple practices this week. Aaron Glenn is probably preparing to be pretty shorthanded at the position. That means the defense needs more from Kingsley Enagbare. The veteran defensive end has 2.5 sacks this season.
Minkah Fitzpatrick, S
Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins has thrown five interceptions this season. He's showcasing
veteran savviness while running Klint Kubiak's offense, but he still makes the occasional mistake. Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will attempt to force a turnover by baiting Cousins into an ill-advised throw.
Demario Davis, LB
Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty made some interesting comments earlier this week, indicating the Jets defense doesn't love to tackle. It's a bold statement from a sophomore top-10 pick who is struggling to generate meaningful rushing yards on a weekly basis. Veteran Jets linebacker Demario Davis has 46 tackles. Hopefully he'll make Jeanty regret his comments.
