The New York Jets have moved on from kicker Cade York but there is still likely more to come.
On Monday, the Jets' practice saw both York and veteran Jason Sanders struggle. In response, The Athletic reports that York has been waived in light of that:
Formerly an All-Pro with the Miami Dolphins, Sanders remains the only kicker on New York's roster following the decision with York. The 30-year-old missed the entire 2025 season with a hip injury, and potentially because of that, he has had a rocky summer as well.
Considering the latter struggles, there could be a distinct chance that the Jets still add offseason competition for Sanders. It is worth noting that special teams coordinator Chris Banjo did praise Sanders' veteran experience during training
camp.
“I think that’s huge,” Banjo said. “You talk about a guy who’s kicked in our division before, a guy who’s kicked in our stadium. So, a guy who is very confident in his ability and has shown time in and time out that he can get the job done."
But at least for now, Sanders is the Jets' starting kicker.
