The New York Jets will open the 2026 regular season Sunday against a quarterback they know could present plenty of challenges. The Tennessee Titans are entering Year 2 with Cam Ward under center after selecting the former Miami Hurricanes standout with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Ward's rookie season featured its share of ups and downs, but the talented signal-caller still threw for 3,169 yards and 15 touchdowns while continuing to flash the arm talent that made him one of college football's most decorated quarterbacks.
Ahead of Sunday's matchup, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn spoke with the media and was asked what stands out most when studying Ward on film.
"One thing that really shows up is his ability to make all of the throws
with these different arm angles. I think that's pretty impressive by him. He clearly has an understanding of the offense. You can tell that him and Brian Daboll are lockstep," Glenn said.

Glenn wasn't the only Jets coach impressed by Ward's skill set. Defensive coordinator Brian Duker also praised the young quarterback while discussing the challenge New York's defense will face in Week 1.
"Good quarterback," Duker said. "He's obviously a good player. No. 1 overall pick for a reason."
While Ward enters just his second NFL season, the respect from New York's coaching staff is evident. His ability to create plays both inside and outside the pocket has made him one of the more intriguing young quarterbacks in the AFC.

The Jets hope Ward's development takes a brief pause Sunday afternoon. If New York wants to leave Nashville with a season-opening victory, slowing down Tennessee's franchise quarterback will be near the top of the priority list.
