The New York Jets (2-3) put forth a dominant defensive performance in their Week 5 victory over the Cleveland Browns. They'll need a repeat showing to upset their divisional rival New England Patriots (3-2) in Week 6. This struggling Patriots offense has committed the third-most turnovers (11) in the entire NFL.
Jets Wire has identified three potential X-factors for the defense in Sunday's Week 6 matchup with the Patriots
.Minkah Fitzpatrick, S
Veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has the Jets' only interception of the season, a takeaway that ended a historic drought after the defense failed to have a single INT in 2025. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is tied for the league lead in interceptions with seven. Hopefully Fitzpatrick can bait him into a mistake.
David Bailey, EDGE
Rookie defensive
end David Bailey enjoyed a breakout game in the victory over the Browns. The No. 2 overall selection was unstoppable, notching nine pressures and 3.0 sacks. Bailey will attempt to secure a worthy follow-up performance versus the Patriots' shaky offensive tackles.
T'Vondre Sweat, NT
Mike Vrabel is an old-school coach. This Patriots offense will undeniably prefer to establish the run through TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson. Jets nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat will be key to the defense's run-stuffing efforts. The Jets need to make this Patriots offense one-dimensional.
