The New York Jets are making a couple of moves as they prepare to open the 2026 NFL regular season home portion of their 2026 schedule against the Green Bay Packers.
According to the NFL transaction wire, New York is signing cornerback Jordan Clark from their practice squad to the active roster. Clark is the son of former NFL safety Ryan Clark. He appeared in six games for the Jets last season and now has another opportunity to contribute to the defense.

The move comes as the Jets continue adjusting
their secondary after losing safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to a groin injury in the season opener. Clark now moves into a more prominent position on the active roster and could have an opportunity to see defensive snaps as New York prepares for the Packers.
Sterling Shepard joins the practice squad
The Jets also added another familiar name to their offensive depth. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo was first to report that New York is signing wide receiver Sterling Shepard to its practice squad. Shepard spent the first portion of his NFL career with the New York Giantsbefore playing the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The veteran receiver has accumulated 4,800 career receiving yards and now returns to the New York area as the Jets continue to replenish their depth at the position. For the Jets, these moves are less about making a major splash and more about maintaining depth as injuries begin to test the roster.
After a 1-0 start, New York is preparing for a significantly different challenge against Green Bay. The home opener is nearly here, and the Jets will debut their white helmets at MetLife Stadium with an opportunity to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2015.
Glenn and the players have asked fans to bring plenty of energy, and with the Packers coming to town, there should be no shortage of noise.
