Rookie spotlight: David Bailey
The first-round outside linebacker has two sacks in two weeks. On Sunday, he had three tackles, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble. Bailey is one of the Jets’ three first-round picks from this spring. Tight end Kenyon Sadiq has five catches for 38 yards, but wide receiver Omar Cooper is on IR with an ankle injury.

Gang Green hasn't convinced us that this year's team isn't the same old New York Jets, who find ways to lose games with undisciplined play. On Sunday, the Jets committed 13 penalties that cost them 156 yards and couldn't overcome other self-inflicted errors.
Unlike last week, the Jets were inefficient on the ground, averaging 2.5 yards per carry. Geno Smith had a solid outing, throwing for 247 yards and a touchdown, but he struggled to move the ball down the stretch when the offense needed timely conversions.
If the Jets want to establish a new identity that's different from their losing culture, they can't play themselves out of close games.

One thing we know about the QB1: Look, no interceptions for Geno Smith.
This is notable because Smith threw a league-high 17 interceptions last season with the Raiders. He's making smart decisions with the ball for the most part -- not a single turnover in 74 dropbacks. He's completing nearly 71% of his passes, though he's averaging only 5.8 air yards per attempt -- tied with Daniel Jones for 28th in the league. Going forward, the Jets need to open up the passing attack to maximize their skill-position talent.
