The New York Jets have been at the butt of plenty of jokes over the years. That comes with the territory when you hold the longest playoff drought in the NFL.
But this one really stings.
Former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress, now 48, spent one season with the Jets in 2011. That's all it took for him to come to this conclusion.
Burress notably spent 20 months behind bars for illegal gun possession during an appearance on Lil Wayne’s The Joint Venture Show.
Burress made a sincere comparison between spending time in prison and playing for Gang Green. As one could expect, it was not a flattering one.
"They're both kind of similar because when I walked into prison on my first day, I was like, 'damn man you a (expletive) loser.' And I had the same damn feeling
every day I walked through the door with the Jets," Burress said.
Regardless off-field issues, Burress has earned his respect on the gridiron. The former No. 8 overall selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the 2000 NFL Draft won Super Bowl XLII with the New York Giants.
Not only does Burress' resume cause all the more sting, having suited up for the Jets' crosstown rival in the Giants from 2005 to 2008 doesn't make this one feel much better either.
