Ladies and gentlemen, Breece Hall is ready.
Hall makes his long-awaited return to the New York Jets (2-6) lineup against the Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) in Week 9 after missing the last five games due to a quad injury suffered in Week 3. But that's not the biggest news relating to Hall this week.
Hall was seen deleting some of social media account ahead of his return from injury. Did that relate to his name being tossed in trade speculation outside of the organization? As it turns out, it's a much different situation.
Hall revealed that he received threatening messages directed at him and his family from people questioning why he hadn't played despite being listed as questionable for recent games. The experience prompted him to delete his social media
accounts.
"I've had people threatening me and my family on social media, so that's not something that's good for your mental health that you should be looking at. So I'm just like, all right, if people think it's that serious, if you're willing to go that low, then it's like nothing that I need to look at," Hall said.
As for his return to the field, head coach Aaron Glenn indicated both Hall and Braelon Allen will see touches after Allen's strong play with Hall out.
Still, Hall also made it clear that his absence hasn't changed how he views his standing in the NFL. With Braelon Allen taking advantage of the opportunity to lead the backfield, Hall understands the questions about his role, but he hasn't lost confidence in his ability to be a featured running back.
"[I'm] still a starter, still a very good running back in this league. Obviously, Braelon's been playing good. I think him and the O-line and the offense have caught their stride after the first 3-4 games."
