The New York Jets have plenty of reasons to be excited about David Bailey and his development after his dominant performance against theCleveland Browns. The young edge rusher recorded three sacks and four additional quarterback hits on Deshaun Watson, helping lead a defensive effort that produced eight sacks in a 17-12 victory.
Now, fans are learning more about the habits behind Bailey's growing success, including one decision that removes a familiar distraction from his daily routine. David Bailey is choosing development over distraction. He recently revealed how he's sharpening his focus.
Bailey deleted his social media apps after Week 1, explaining that he wanted to spend less time scrolling and more time on activities that could benefit his football
career. Speaking with reporters recently, he detailed why he made the change.
"I felt like I was spending too much time. Time I could've spent on other things...putting more time into my body, studying the playbook. Other productive things I could've been doing," Bailey said.

The decision offers an interesting glimpse into how Bailey approaches his development. Rather than getting caught up in the attention surrounding his performances, he is prioritizing the work that happens away from the field. Bailey's breakout against Cleveland has raised expectations, but one outstanding afternoon is only the beginning of the conversation.
If he continues refining his technique, studying opposing offenses and investing in his physical development, the Jets could have an increasingly disruptive force leading their pass rush. The question now is how high Bailey's ceiling might be. His latest performance has certainly given Jets fans another reason to keep watching.
