The New York Jets are attempting to bounce back versus the Detroit Lions in Week 3. On paper, it's an extremely favorable matchup for QB Geno Smith and the offense. The Lions are currently allowing 35.5 points per contest, second-most in the NFL.
Jets Wire has identified three potential X-factors for the Jets' offense against the Lions in Week 3.
Olu Fashanu, LT
Holding Lions superstar pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson in-check will be key to the Jets' offensive success. Hutchinson typically rushes opposite the left tackle, so Olu Fashanu is expected to draw the assignment. Fashanu is off to a fantastic start in 2026, but this matchup will be a legitimate test of his abilities.
Kenyon Sadiq, TE
Jets sophomore tight end Mason Taylor is considered week-to-week with a thumb injury. His
absence versus the Lions will create a huge opportunity for rookie Kenyon Sadiq. It'll be Sadiq who earns the start in Taylor's place, and he could be a difference maker for Geno Smith in the passing game.
Breece Hall, RB
Star running back Breece Hall did not run the football effectively versus the Packers in Week 2, gaining just 29 yards via 16 carries (1.8 YPA). Hall did add 63 receiving yards to his offensive totals. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich will try to establish his stud back on the ground.
