The New York Jets have not yet provided a definitive update on Dylan Parham's knee injury. Still, their latest roster moves may have offered a clue about how seriously the team is preparing for the possibility of losing its starting left guard.
New York added offensive linemen Nick Dawkins and Jimmy Morrissey to the practice squad Tuesday while also making room by waiving cornerback Jordan Clark. The Jets' official transaction report confirms the two additions, which come just two days after Parham exited the 31-24 loss to the Detroit Lions.

That timing is difficult to ignore.
Parham had been a consistent part of an offensive line that has received positive attention for its work at the tackle spots, but the diagnosis after Sunday's game was a knee injury. Aaron Glenn said Monday that the Jets were still waiting for more information and expected to have an update on not only Parhambut also on Breece Hallby Wednesday.
Jordan Meredith stepped in for Parham against the Lions and finished the game at left guard. Meredith was acquired by New York before the season specifically because of his ability to play multiple interior positions, giving the Jets an experienced option if they need to make a change.
Still, adding two more interior linemen suggests the Jets want as many options as possible available before traveling to Chicago. Dawkins gives New York experience at both center and guard from his collegiate career, while Morrissey has also played both positions.
That does not necessarily mean Parham will miss Sunday's game. It does, however, show that the Jets are preparing for the possibility, and the timing makes the situation worth watching closely.
After allowing pressure to become an issue during portions of the Detroit game, New York can ill afford another complication along the offensive line. The Jets are already trying to establish more consistency in the running game and protect Geno Smith, making Parham's status one of the most important developments heading into Week 4.
