The New York Jets lost their third-consecutive contest on Sunday. The team was defeated in a high-scoring shootout, 38-33 by the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.
The lowly Jets are now a hopeless 2-6 after a game we learned plenty from. Jets Wire has identified three notable happenings from Sunday's latest setback.
Braelon Allen keeps rolling
Jets running back Breece Hall wasn't quite ready to return from injury. That meant another week of Braelon Allen as the lead back. The former Wisconsin standout was excellent again, rushing for a new career-high 147 yards and a touchdown. Allen has three 100-rushing yard games in the Jets' last four outings.
Where was Omar Cooper Jr.?
Jets fans wanted to see rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. continue his momentum after stringing together consecutive 100-yard games
(with two touchdowns) in back-to-back weeks. Somehow, he was nowhere to be found on offense. Cooper was not targeted at all. That responsibility belongs to offensive coordinator Frank Reich and quarterback Geno Smith for not looking his way.
Adonai Mitchell breaks out
With Cooper not involved on offense, Adonai Mitchell had his breakout game. Having recently returned from injury, he was outstanding on Sunday. Mitchell recorded seven receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown. He averaged an explosive 20.3 yards per catch against a Raiders secondary that had no answer for him.
