The New York Jets were defeated 26-19 by their division rival New England Patriots in Week 6. It's another disappointing loss that dropped the Jets to 2-4 on the year. Head coach Aaron Glenn's squad continues to look poorly coached in critical moments.
Jets Wire has identified three things we learned throughout the Week 6 loss.
Omar Cooper Jr. looks for real
Jets rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. returned to the lineup after missing Weeks 2-5 on IR. He was injured on a 30-yard catch versus the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. Cooper was excellent in his return, leading the offense in every major receiving category by registering seven catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Where was the pass rush?
The Jets pass rush didn't do nearly enough to make Patriots quarterback Drake Maye uncomfortable. Maye was
not sacked a single time as he threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Rookie edge David Bailey was held in check by Patriots rookie offensive tackle Caleb Lomu.
3rd down defense was woeful
The Jets' failure to generate pressure led to consistent third-down conversions for the Patriots' offense. They were 8-of-15 on third down, and 1-of-2 on fourth down. The opposing offense should never bat above 50% in money-down situations. Glenn's defense needs to sort through the tape and be better next week.
