The 2025 NFL season revealed a league-wide trend. Offenses went heavier with personnel packages, deploying more two tight-end sets than ever before.
It's partially why the New York Jets selected Kenyon Sadiq at No. 16 overall in the 2026 NFL draft.
Sean McVay, innovative head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, led the way. The Rams ran 13 personnel (three tight ends) on a league-high 30.48% of their offensive snaps, according to data collected by Sumer Sports.
The expanded usage of tight ends around the NFL made it acceptable for the Jets to draft Sadiq just one year after using a second-round pick on Mason Taylor.
Sadiq and Taylor don't necessarily need to be competing for reps at training camp. Having both of them should allow the Jets to field multi
tight end sets under new offensive coordinator Frank Reich.
Last season, the Jets used 11 personnel (three wide receivers, one tight end) on 67.13% of their snaps, third-highest in the entire NFL. Expect that number to trend downwards in 2026 as they get heavier with Sadiq and Taylor.
The Jets also have Jeremy Ruckert and Jelani Woods on the offseason roster at tight end.
Reich has endless possibilities at his disposal when thinking about how he'll mix up his tight end packages and usage. The Jets have a somewhat dismal history at tight end, but Sadiq and Taylor are capable of ushering in a new era while ensuring the offense can follow league-wide trends.
