The New York Jets already made the decision to go with Jason Sanders as their kicker during the 2026 NFL season.
Now it has been finalized.
Following a blocked attempt in overtime on "Monday Night Football" in Week 5, the LA Rams (2-3) decided to release kicker Harrison Mevis. To replace him, the Los Angeles went to East Rutherford.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Rams have signed Blake Grupe off the Jets' practice squad to replace Mevis, leaving Sanders as New York's lone kicker:
After rough preseason, the Jets released Sanders and picked up Grupe on waivers.
Despite that, Gang Green still went with Sanders at the start of the regular season as they called him up from the practice squad. Then the team managed to switch their spots as Sanders was
signed to the 53-man roster and Grupe was released and later re-signed to the practice squad.
Grupe had remained there until the Rams have decided to take him. The Jets could've kept Grupe by offering him a roster spot, but they had no reason to do so.
