What is the story about?

The New York Jets are 1-2 through three games, and there have been plenty of reasons for optimism surrounding the team despite the record. They have competed with everything they have against every opponent.

They have played themselves into position to win and shown signs of real improvement under Aaron Glenn. For some that might be a moral victory. For this team, that isn't good enough.

Garrett Wilson isn't interested in any of that if the Jets aren't finishing games with victories. Speaking with the New York media Wednesday, he dismissed the idea that New York should feel encouraged simply because it has been competitive in two losses.

"It's not even glass half-full. That might be the outside. That might be their perception of it — 'oh, we didn't

expect the Jets to...' We expect to win the game, so it's a letdown [if we don't]. [After the] Green Bay [Packers] game, we felt like crap. We're just excited for another opportunity to go play at the Bears, you know? I haven't played at that stadium (Soldier Field)," Wilson said.

That mindset is important for a Jets team that has watched leads disappear and opportunities go unused during the first three weeks. Wilson also pointed toward one area the offense needs to improve if New York is going to turn those close games into victories.

"Just trying to bottle up the second half and bring it to earlier in the game," he added.

The Jets have shown they can play with their opponents. Wilson's message is clear. That isn't the goal. The next step is making sure that competitiveness translates into results, starting Sunday with a road game at Soldier Field vs. the Chicago Bears.
