The New York Jets have a surprise coming thanks to a curious injury that happened this week ahead of the team facing the Detroit Lions in Week 3.
The Jets will visit the Detroit Lions in a meeting of 1-1 teams on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
As of Friday, it's unclear if wide receiver AD Mitchell will make the trip.
Mitchell has nine catches for 123 yards through two games so far this season. On Thursday, he surprisingly showed up on the Jets' injury report with a finger injury. Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters Mitchell got his finger stuck in a jersey leading to the issue.
It's unclear of what Mitchell's status will be for the game, but there were signs.
During Friday's practice, Mitchell had his hand wrapped up.
Then there was a promise made
by Glenn, he noted that either Sterling Shepard or Tyler Johnson would be called up from the practice squad to face the Lions:

Catching a ball with your hand wrapped up is difficult and if someone is going to be called up? That's not a good suggestion for Mitchell's game day status.
In time, New York will find out if Mitchell will suit up for the Jets against the Lions.
