Geno Smith has bounced back from last year’s disaster with the Raiders. He’s fourth in the league in passer rating (110), first in completion percentage (75.5), second in off-target rate (3.9 percent) and 10th in passing yards (783). And he hasn’t thrown an interception. So far, it has been a nice homecoming for the Jets’ second-round pick from 2013.

Week 3 Result: Lost at Detroit 31-24
The New York Jets have been surprisingly competitive through the first three weeks. While the Detroit Lions pulled away from them on Sunday, the Jets won their opener and probably should have outlasted the Green Bay Packers in Week 2.
New York is developing a solid young core, and it's beginning to look like Aaron Glenn might be the right coach for this team after all. His first season with the franchise didn't go well, but he's shown this season that he can field a balanced and effective football team.
Equipped with three 2027 first-round picks, the Jets are likely laying the foundation for a quarterback to be drafted next April. That doesn't mean they aren't a team that must be taken seriously right now, because they are—though losing Breece Hall to a thigh injury hurts them in the short term.

Geno Smith has been unexpectedly good. He threw for 321 yards and three TDs in a loss to Detroit on Sunday. He also has yet to throw an interception this year. And the Jets’ defense has been good, for the most part. Even giving up 31 points and 381 yards to the powerful Lions is about average. Don’t get me wrong, the Jets still won’t win many games, but they’re a heck of a lot more watchable.
If the Jets can get through a trip to Chicago on Sunday, they’ve got a very winnable stretch — vs. Cleveland, at New England, vs. Miami, vs. Las Vegas — coming up.
Stat To Know: Kenyon Sadiq's 105 receiving yards is the most in a game by a Jets rookie tight end since Dustin Keller had 107 yards on Nov 9, 2008.

Fantasy surprise: TE Kenyon Sadiq
Who needs training camp? The rookie figured to get off to a slow start after missing nearly all of camp because of a hernia injury, but he already has 12 catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns (one receiving, one rushing). He's 10th among tight ends in fantasy points, and his role should continue to grow as he gains a better grasp of the offense. Sadiq has already developed good chemistry with QB Geno Smith.
