The New York Jets blew out Robert Saleh and the Tennessee Titans, beating them 23-10 in Week 1.
Rookie EDGE David Bailey was among the standout performers. It was a very promising debut for Bailey.
The No. 2 overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft earned the start for the Jets at defensive end. He routinely took advantage of matchup opportunities versus the Titans' offensive tackles. Bailey showcased good athleticism, speed, and bend around the edge.
Pro Football Focus credited Bailey with four pressures and one sack. In truth, Bailey's sack was a product of Will McDonald IV flushing Titans quarterback Cam Ward from the pocket. Bailey shoved Ward out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage for his first career "sack."
It's not the sexiest or most
memorable first sack, but it counts the same.
Bailey had a pass-rushing grade from PFF of 55.5 and was credited with three total tackles. It was a solid debut for Bailey. It also indicated he has room for growth moving forward.
The Jets drafted Bailey at No. 2 overall to help revamp their defensive line. Aaron Glenn's unit looked much improved in Week 1, and Bailey undeniably contributed to the positive results.
The athletic pass rusher has room for improvement against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2.
