The New York Jetsare 1-2 after three weeks, but it's hard to blame Geno Smith for where they stand. In fact, the quarterback has emerged as one of the team's biggest reasons for optimism, and the numbers show just how efficient he has been.
Through three games, Smith has completed 77 of 102 passes for 783 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions, giving him a league-best 75.5% completion rate. He also owns a 110.0 passer rating entering Week 4.

That accuracy has been especially notable because Smith has steadily improved as the season has progressed. After completing 19 of 24 passesin the opener against the Tennessee Titans, he followed with 27 completions on 41 attempts against the Green
Bay Packersbefore completing 31 of 37 attemptsagainst the Detroit Lions. His Week 3 performance included 321 yards and three touchdowns despite the Jets' 31-24 loss.
The Detroit game may have been the clearest indication yet of what Smith can give Frank Reich's offense. He distributed the ball to eight different receivers and repeatedly made accurate throws against a Lions defense that eventually got to him five times. The final sack-fumble ended the Jets' comeback attempt, but it shouldn't erase what came before it.
That is the interesting part about Smith's start. The Jets have struggled to finish games, their running game has lacked consistency, and injuries have taken several offensive weapons off the field, yet the quarterback has remained remarkably efficient.
The next challenge is turning that accuracy into victories. Smith is doing his part to put the Jets in position, but New York needs the rest of the offense to finish what its quarterback has started. Through three weeks, however, there is little question that Geno Smith has been one of the NFL's most accurate passers.
