The New York Jets head into the 2026 NFL regular season with something we haven't seen in a long time: Optimism for their offense.
The start of that was the addition of quarterback Geno Smith via trade this offseason. Then came the 2026 NFL Draft which saw two first-round playmaker additions in tight end Kenyon Sadiq and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
And don't forget star incumbents in wideout Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall.
On paper, that's an impressive lineup to some. FOX Sports doesn't think so just yet.
The outlet ranked the "skill positions" of all 32 NFL teams head-to-head and the Jets landed in a surprisingly low position at No. 27 overall.
While disappointing, the key words mentioned are "on paper." The Jets have talent. But
because this unit has to come together and prove it, the Green and White still lands in a low position.

If Garrett Wilson were almost anywhere else, he’d probably be considered one of the 10 best wide receivers in the league. And running back Breece Hall is a good player who can be one of the most explosive backs in the league when he gets in the open field. If this list graded only the top two skill players, the Jets would be much higher. But even the Jets have no idea what else they have.
They have big hopes for two first-round picks — WR Omar Cooper and TE Kenyon Sadiq — to add some juice to their offense. They also have what Wilson called a "ticking time bomb" in WR Adonai Mitchell, a former second-round pick with the Colts whom the Jets acquired in a trade last year. But right now, all the excitement is about hopes and potential only. And the Jets have a long history of that not amounting to much.
