This New York Jets defense has exceeded expectations thus far. They'll face another big challenge on Sunday. The Chicago Bears are the Jets' Week 4 opponent. Even without starting quarterback Caleb Williams, the Bears scored 27 points in a Week 3 blowout win over the Philadelphia Eagles with Case Keenum at quarterback.
Jets Wire
has identified three potential X-factors for the Jets' defense versus the Bears:Minkah Fitzpatrick, S
Veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will be back in the Jets' lineup after leaving injured just six plays into Week 1. The versatile defensive back will be an asset to an Aaron Glenn-coached defense going up against a familiar Ben Johnson-coached offense. Hopefully Fitzpatrick can end the Jets' ongoing interception drought.
David Bailey, EDGE
Rookie EDGE David
Bailey arguably played his least effective game in Week 3. He now ranks second among all rookie EDGEs in pressures, but the legitimacy of his pressures have been questioned. The Bears have a weakness at left tackle, so perhaps Bailey will move around the defensive formation.
Demario Davis, LB
Without Williams at quarterback, this Bears offense will attempt to lean on D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai in the running game. Veteran Jets linebacker Demario Davis will have to play a tough front-seven game. Davis currently leads the Jets in tackles with 22.
