The New York Jets are legitimately excited about their offensive line heading into the 2026 season. Rightfully so. They have ascending building blocks in Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou at offensive tackle.
Right guard Joe Tippmann recently signed a lucrative contract extension. If the Jets have any question marks on the offensive line, it's at left guard and center, where Dylan Parham and Josh Myers are set to start respectively. Darren Mougey just missed an opportunity to potentially upgrade one of those spots.
Veteran center Ethan Pocic recently received medical clearance to resume football activities at training camp after suffering a torn Achilles tendon last season. Pocic, a nine-year veteran starter, didn't take long to find a home. Adam
Schefter reported he's signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens.
Pocic would have pushed Myers for the Jets' starting center gig. Myers became a starter somewhat unexpectedly last offseason when Alijah Vera-Tucker suffered an offseason injury. Tippmann moved from center to guard, clearing the way for Myers.
Pro Football Focus tagged Myers with an overall grade of 52.9 for his season-long performance. The Jets were obviously satisfied with how Myers played. Signing Pocic could have provided the Jets with an opportunity to upgrade at center. It appears Mougey didn't agree.
