The New York Jets (2-6) and Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) meet Sunday for an NFL Week 9 clash. Kickoff from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, is set for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Let's analyze NFL odds around the Jets vs. Chiefs odds and make our expert NFL picks and predictions for the best bets.
The Jets head to Kansas City for a battle of two teams reeling and sorely in need of a win. New York felt some optimism when an upset of the Cleveland Browns put the Jets at 2-3 on the year. Since then, New York has lost three-straight games.
QB Geno Smith has remained a steady option under center and was that against the Las Vegas Raiders last week. However, head coach Aaron Glenn's defense came up well short of expectations in a 38-33 loss. Smith was 20-for-32
passing for 290 yards with two touchdowns and a late interception in the end zone. RB Braelon Allen remained a bright point as well with 147 rushing yards; however, the Jets will be welcoming RB Breece Hall (quad) back to the lineup against the Chiefs. It's expected that carries will be split between the two.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs offense may be the most disappointing unite between these two teams of late. QB Patrick Mahomes has seen some critics come after his lack of downfield passing, but Mahomes did put up 321 yards and had 3 TDs in a 28-24 loss to the Denver Broncos last week in a contest that came down to the very last second. More concerns is the cooling off RB Kenneth Walker has seen. Kansas City's back-to-back losses saw Walker only put up 36 and 69 rushing yards, respectively.
But the Chiefs have done well on defense. Kansas City's +5 turnover differential is tied for fourth in the NFL.
So far in 2026, New York has a 4-4 record both against the spread and on the point totals. Kansas City is just 3-4 ATS and on totals this year.

Jets vs. Chiefs picks and predictions
Prediction
Chiefs 31, Jets 24
Moneyline
PASS.
There is no juice on the Chiefs (-500) on the moneyline.
Against the spread
BET JETS +9.5 (-110).
This game looks to heavily favorite the Chiefs on paper, and for good reason. Kansas City sorely needs a win, but looking at this spread, there is a feeling of this being a number that overlooks the Jets.
Picking New York outright is very bold, but the spread is a smart play. The Jets have kept games close this season. In order to do so, Smith will have to thrive in the passing game -- and what do you know? Kansas City will be without cornerbacks Delane and CB L'Jarius Sneed (knee) in their secondary.
Yes, Wilson is the Jets' top receiver and is out, but Gang Green has plenty of other weapons for Smith to work with to hit this spread.
Over/Under
LEAN OVER 48 (-108).
Both teams have passing attacks that should come into this one confident. Predicting the Chiefs to play in a shootout is not shocking. The Jets are another story, unless you look to ... just a week ago. It's two offenses that, despite losing, looked like they were starting to heat up in Week 8.
Best prop bet
BET WR OMAR COOPER JR. OVER 47.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-111)
Cooper had zero catches against the Raiders last week despite the Jets putting up 33 points. The reason his yards sit low this week is because of that. However, the two weeks prior to that saw Cooper surpass 100 yards receiving in back-to-back games. With Wilson out, Smith will have no problem leaning on the rookie wideout.
