The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins will continue their 2026 NFL regular season schedules against each other on Sunday when the two teams do battle at MetLife Stadium in Week 7.
Like there will be every week, there are plenty of expected headlines that will pop up during the days leading up to this one between the Jets (2-4) and Dolphins (0-5). Some obvious, others not so much.
With that, here are Jets Wire's five storylines to watch for ahead of Week 7:
Being the clear favorite
The Jets have been favored in a game as recently as their win against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5.
But you can't compare the two. New York was a surprising favorite ahead of that 17-12 win for the Jets over Cleveland. This time, it's clear that the Jets are the favorite over the Miami Dolphins
in Week 7. The Dolphins are a disaster this season.
Those are expectations the Jets' locker room will have to deal with this week because they are going to be asked about keeping their eye on the prize.
Mistakes
Speaking of the brutal Dolphins' season, the Jets need to focus on getting back to mistake-free football ahead of this one.
In their own right, New York is the fourth-most penalized team in the NFL through six games with 52 total against them. In terms of the turnover differential, the Jets sit at a number of +4 but quarterback Geno Smith is fresh off throwing his first interception of the year against the New England Patriots. Meanwhile, Miami is among the league's worst at -4.
This could be the key and focus of the Jets all week.
Breece's return?
Jets running back Breece Hall has teased on social media that he could be returning from a quad injuryagainst the Dolphins. That would be welcomed.
Injury reports will be released throughout this week starting on Wednesday. Updates to come.
Garrett's involvement
This is becoming a weekly discussion one way or another.
Two weeks ago, the involvement of No. 1 receiver Garrett Wilson was being praised after he had over 100 yards against the Browns. Now it's on the flip side after his lack of involvement against the Patriots.
The Jets will continue to be asked about it.
The future
While the Jets are the favorite, this is the reality. Both the Jets and Dolphins are already looking toward their long-term future beyond the 2026 season.
Players won't want to hear about that, but that's what is going to happen among those outside the locker room this week... particularly the 2027 NFL Draft.
