Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Darnell Washington signed a big contract extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. Washington is already back to embarrassing NFL defenders in 2026.
In Pittsburgh 20-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, Washington delivered a stiff arm for the ages to help the Steelers secure the win. The 6-foot-7, 265-pound tight end threw Falcons defensive back Xavier Watts to the ground with such a level of violence that Watts slid helplessly across the grass for over a yard.
Washington's stiff arm came on a critical third-and-short situation with under three minutes left in the game. The Steelers would have loved for Washington to stay in bounds to waste more clock, but Pittsburgh was able to get another
first down to run out the clock.
Washington finished the day with two catches for 18 yards, but his 15-yard reception is one of the NFL's best Week 1 highlights.
