The Georgia-Florida game typically delivers a great contest in its history for fans on each side. Both teams come into the matchup after very good starts to the season and with a lot on the line.
The Georgia Bulldogs come into this week fresh off a much needed bye week and two questions will remain until the ball kicks off this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. Will the Bulldogs be back to themselves? Will Georgia have a sluggish start due to a bye week? Often times, it's difficult to tell if a team will be in sync or not when they come off of a bye week.
It will be interesting to see if Georgia comes out playing clean from turnovers coming off of the bye. The Bulldogs struggled to maintain possession of the ball in their loss against the Auburn Tigers.
If Georgia can come out clean and execute at a high level on all facets of the game, then thye will win but if not, it could be a long day for them in Atlanta.
As for theFlorida Gators, they have displayed extremely highs and some very low moments this year but for the most part, the Gators look to be a real threat to the Bulldogs. Florida comes into this game with many positives that could really put a damper on Georgia's game plan. There are obviously some holes that the Bulldogs could expose but if the Florida Gators can execute in these certain areas, they will defeat the Georgia Bulldogs to snap the five-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.
Reasons why Florida will defeat Georgia
The Gators will establish their running game
The best player for the Florida Gators will be an absolute force for the Gators if Florida wants to win this rivalry. Gators star running back Jadan Baugh has been consistent this season averaging 5.7 yards per carry and leads the SEC in rushing touchdowns with 13. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound powerful running back will be looking to showcase his game at a high level against his hometown team. This will be a homecoming for Baugh since he is from the Atlanta area. If the Gators offensive line can establish some physicality early against a strong Bulldogs front, then they should win this game.
Buster Faulkner will dial it up
Florida Gators offensive coordinator, Buster Faulkner is one of the nation's best play callers and he certainly has his work cut out for him this weekend facing the Bulldogs in Atlanta. Faulkner is very familiar with facing the Bulldogs from his recent days at Georgia Tech and from previously coaching at Georgia. He has shown a lot of success being able to dial up plays against a Bulldogs defense and now he faces them yet again but with the Gators.
Faulkner has some excellent strengths that can contest the Bulldogs defense. Faulkner has outstanding pre-snap deception. He utilizes shifts during pre-snap, he likes to use fast motions, bunch formations which can confuse a defensive scheme in a hurry. Faulkner balances things out from the from run-pass options, and core run concepts with a spread style which creates high-tempo to keep defenses off-balance. Faulkner has the tools with his quarterback, running back and wide outs to be able to make the plays to fit his calls and scheme. If the Gators get going, it will be a long day for the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 31.
